Petrol Price increase in Pakistan - Expected rates from April 16

The petrol price in Pakistan is expected to rise to approximately Rs300 starting from April 16 due to change in global prices and the federal government's proposal to hike taxes.

According to insider sources, the cost of petrol is projected to increase by around Rs8 per liter. This means that for the upcoming two weeks, the petrol price will surge to about Rs298 per liter, up from the current rate of Rs289.40 per liter. Similarly, the diesel price is also likely to go up by roughly Rs2 per liter, reaching approximately Rs284.24 per liter compared to the current price of Rs282 per liter.

Unverified reports suggest that the Pakistani government is observing an increase in the petroleum levy from Rs60 to Rs100 per liter. The existing levy is already at the maximum cap of Rs60 per liter. If this proposal goes through, it could lead to unprecedented petrol prices in Pakistan. The government is set to announce the new rates on April 15 following the final calculation of the exchange rate.

In conclusion, consumers in Pakistan should brace themselves for a significant hike in petrol prices, with the expected changes coming into effect from April 16. Stay informed and be prepared for the anticipated increase in petrol price from mid-April.
